Little Miss Sassy Pants

The Joys of Parenting!!
Your first child is always the "test run". You tend to keep close track of them like how many times they pooped or puked during a 24 hr span. Perfect example is when i left jamie at my moms (Granny's) and left her a lengthy to do and not to do list including:
Make sure you burp enough
Wipe, lotion, and powder bum enough
DON'T dip soother in sugar bowl or Coke-a-Cola to sooth baby
I think you get my point!

You always Have great expectations for your first born. You see other children mis-behaving and you think to your self "My child will certainly not behave like that." Boy was i wrong

When jamie was almost three I was pregg with sarah and at the Dr for a check-up. I told Jamie to Stay in the Play Zone as i was in talking with the Dr. Jamie Obviously thought she was above the Rules and took off running down the hall.(this was when the Dr was in the mall) The poor secratery had to chase her down. Jamie was Almost to the family shoe store AKA mirvs shoes. when she was caught. Needless to say she got a good spanking for that little stunt.

As Jamie got older she realized that the older sibling power extended quite far( right over her poor little sister Sarah) My mom (granny) likes to tell the story about when I was back to work part time and the girls would come home from school and she would come over to check on them(usually with a pot of stew for supper.....yumm) Jamie would be sitting at the piano prettending to be beethovan and my poor little sarah whould be standing on a chair at the sink, rubber gloves to her armpits, scrubbing dished and jamie shouting orders from the living room(In later years Sarah even got the nickname toby). Granny would come to Sarahs rescue.

This lasted all throughout Childhood and into adulthood. For Jamie being in control of her helpless little sisters turned out to be a blessing as she recently was responsable for 23 little african children for 15 months, I keep telling her that she will make a wonderful mommy one day and she laughts at me about that.

Now i have the joy of working with all my girls at Mirv's Shoes, and guess who's been dubbed "Upper-Lower Mgt" and "Lower-Lower Mgt" LOL

Second Child Syndrome

Alright, so my daughter Jamie convinced me to start one of these blogs so I don't have to use hers to tell my stories.
My first story is all about the second child syndrome. My findings have been the second child always seem to march to their own drum beat. Let's use my Sarah as a very good example: most of you probably know her and have experienced her quirks. She walked at 10 months, never really crawled, never talked until she was 2 (because big sissy did all the yacking for her) and it was like she didn't talk one day and then the next day she was speaking in full sentances. Same with her reading, couldn't do it one day and then the next day she could. When she did start talking she couldn't say her "r's" at all. She would say 'sawa pwimo' and we would always get her to ask if we were having ribs for supper... "ahh we having wibs fo suppah?" It was pretty cute.
It's really hard to put her quirks into words and I'm sure there are things that I've blocked out of my memory. In my experience with LOTS of my friends/family and their children, the second child always seems to be very...um.. unique. Avey, aren't you the second child??
As a young adult, Sarah always seems to attract the weirdo's, especially when it comes to working in the shoe store...maybe she's sending out some sort of vibe. Hmm, I wonder if she was born on a night of a full moon..lol!
I also want to make clear that I am the first born, maybe we'll talk about that on another day of blogging.

Here is a picture of my second born and I this summer at the Vegas Shoe Show.
